The Office of Undergraduate Research will follow up with you after the deadline with more details about the program and how matching will work. Please note that there is no guarantee that your job will be filled. We are committed to making a match that is a good fit for both the student and the mentor. 

The First Year Research Experience (FYRE) matches eligible incoming freshman with faculty mentors to learn about research and creative activity in the mentor's field and to participate in a manageable research or creative project(s) that will keep the students engaged for the academic year. FYRE participants commit to 5-10 hours per week of participation and participate in programming by the Office of Undergraduate Research to prepare students for a successful first year at Nebraska. For AY 22/23, the Office of Undergraduate Research will partner with Career Services to provide structured programming through "HuskerWork" via Canvas format with a curriculum related to professional communication, teamwork, problem solving, growth mindset, personal/professional branding, creativity/adaptability, and customer service. HuskerWork – Career Services ' Nebraska (unl.edu)
